El Porto Beach is a popular beach break in Los Angeles County known for its consistent waves, especially during winter when swells reach double-overhead heights. The best waves come from the northwest to west-northwest directions, with occasional southern hemisphere swells adding to the mix. Both lefts and rights are available, with mid-tide being the optimal time to surf. The spot can get crowded when conditions are good, and pollution is a noted hazard.
