Located in Portugal's Douro and Minho region, Cavalos de Fao is a reef break that delivers powerful waves year-round. The best conditions occur with east winds and northwest swells, working well at all tide levels. Surfers should be cautious of rocks, strong rips, and urchins. Despite its expert-level challenges, the break remains relatively uncrowded. Water temperatures are cold, requiring a wetsuit.
