Possums Reef

Located in Otago, Possums Reef is a left-hand reef break that works sporadically without a clear seasonal pattern. The waves, which can come from local or distant swells, are best when approaching from the east-northeast. Ideal conditions occur at high tide, and offshore winds from the west enhance the surf. Due to its remoteness and hazards like sharks and strong rips, this spot sees few surfers even on good days. The cold water (16.2°C) requires a wetsuit.
