Oraka Beach

Oraka Beach is a popular surf spot in Gisborne and Mahia, known for its consistent waves that work year-round. The beach break produces both left and right-handers, with the best swell coming from the east. Ideal conditions occur with offshore southwest winds, though there is little shelter from cross-shore breezes. The waves perform well at all tide stages, and the water temperature remains moderate at around 20.7°C. While rarely crowded, surfers should be mindful of occasional busy periods.
