The best swells arrive from the west-southwest, creating both left and right-handers. Offshore winds blow from the east-northeast, but there's no shelter from cross-shore breezes. The water is frigid at 7.3°C, so a wetsuit is essential. While uncrowded, powerful rips require caution when paddling out.
