Birling Gap

Birling Gap offers a consistent reef break with powerful waves, best surfed in autumn and winter with southwest swells

Located on the South Coast of England, Birling Gap is a reef break known for its fairly consistent waves, especially in autumn and winter. The best conditions occur with northeast offshore winds, though cross shore breezes can affect the surf. While primarily driven by local windswells, occasional groundswells add variety. The break is beginner-friendly but can get crowded, and submerged rocks pose a hazard to surfers.
