Shag Rock

Shag Rock is an intermediate beach break near Auckland with inconsistent waves, best in summer with southwest swells and east winds.

Located on Auckland's West Coast, Shag Rock is a beach break known for its left-hand waves that perform best during spring and summer. The waves work well with southwest swells and offshore east winds, though they can be equally influenced by local windswells. Ideal conditions occur around low tide when the tide is rising, offering the cleanest rides. Surfers should be cautious of rocks, strong rips, and occasional shark sightings, but crowds are rarely an issue.
