Oreti Beach

Located in Southland, Oreti Beach is a beach break that works sporadically without a clear seasonal pattern. The best waves come from west swells, with offshore winds from the southeast. Both left and right-hand waves form, peaking around mid tide. Due to its remoteness, the spot is rarely crowded but requires a wetsuit due to cold water. Surfers should be cautious of sharks and strong rip currents.
