San Gregorio State Beach

Located in San Mateo, California, San Gregorio State Beach is a beginner-friendly spot with fairly consistent waves. The best conditions occur in summer with southwest swells and east winds. The beach breaks produce both left and right waves, working best around mid-tide. Despite occasional crowds, the waves are rarely overrun, but surfers should be cautious of rips and sharks. The cold water requires a wetsuit.
