Located in Cape Town's Cape Peninsula, Long Beach is a sheltered sandbar break with fairly consistent waves. The best conditions occur in winter with clean groundswells from the southwest and offshore south winds. The beach produces left-handers, though crowds gather when the surf is good. Water temperatures remain moderate at 19.2°C, but swimmers should be aware of shark activity.
