Castlepoint Beach

Castlepoint Beach offers unpredictable waves but delivers lefts and rights for all tide levels.

Located in the Wairarapa, Castlepoint Beach is a sheltered beach break with waves that lack a clear seasonal pattern. The best swells arrive from the east, and offshore winds blow from the southwest. While it handles northeast winds well, onshore winds disrupt the surf. The waves here are both lefts and rights, suitable for all tide stages, and the beach remains uncrowded even on good days. Water temperatures are cold, requiring a wetsuit year-round.
