Pohara Beach

Located in Nelson’s Tasman Bay, Pohara Beach is a sheltered beach break that works best in autumn and winter. The waves, driven by northeast swells, are ideal for beginners due to their gentle nature. Offshore south winds create the best conditions, though cross-shore breezes can be a factor. The beach break offers both left and right-hand waves, surfable at all tides. Despite its uncrowded reputation, surfers should be mindful of occasional congestion.
