Located in the Bay of Plenty, Motiti Island's Kaiwakawaka ree is an exposed beach break with reliable waves year-round. The best conditions occur with east-northeast swells and offshore south-southwest winds, especially around high tide. This spot features a left-hand reef break and is rarely crowded, making it a secluded surf haven. However, surfers should be cautious of sharks and the lack of shelter from cross-shore breezes.
