Fifth Street in Miami is a sheltered beach and reef break that works sporadically without a clear seasonal pattern. The waves can come from local windswells or distant groundswells, with the best swell direction from the north-northeast. The beach breaks offer lefts, while the reef breaks provide better lefts than rights. Low tide with rising water is ideal, but the spot is often crowded and has hazards like rips, pollution, localism, and sharks.
