Located in San Mateo, Rockaway is a beach and reef break that works well year-round, especially with northwest swells. The spot favors right-handers and is best surfed at low tide. Intermediate surfers will enjoy the consistent waves, though conditions can get crowded when the surf is good. Be cautious of rocks, strong rips, pollution, and occasional shark sightings. Wetsuits are a must due to the cold water temperatures.
