Shag Beach

Located in Otago, Shag Beach is an exposed beach and reef break that works year-round, especially with south swells and offshore west winds. The waves suit intermediate surfers, offering both beach and reef breaks with left and right-handers. High tide enhances the surf, and the spot rarely gets crowded. Note that sharks have been reported here, so surf with caution in the cold 16°C waters.
