Located in the scenic Catlins region, Nugget Point is a beach break known for its consistent waves, attracting advanced and expert surfers. The best conditions occur with south-southeast swells and west-southwest winds, producing both left and right-hand waves. Tides don't affect wave quality, and crowds are rare, making it a serene surf spot. Surfers should be cautious of sharks, strong rips, and the cold water requiring a wetsuit.
