Ponta Negra (Quebra Mar)

Ponta Negra, or Quebra Mar, is a beach break in northern Rio de Janeiro with fairly consistent waves, especially in winter. The best swells come from the southeast, and east winds create ideal conditions. Suitable for beginners, the spot produces clean groundswells and left-handers, though it can get crowded. Surfers should be cautious of strong rips and localism.
